Worship

Christ Church welcomes everyone to worship with us!

We worship according to the Book of Common Prayer (BCP).  The prayer book specifies that Holy Eucharist is "the principal act of Christian worship on the Lord's Day."

Our worship service has two parts with plenty of music throughout. The first part is centered on readings from scripture and preaching. At each service, passages from the Old Testament and the New Testament are read.
Each reading comes from a three-year lectionary cycle during which much of the Bible will have been read in church.

The second part of the service is Holy Eucharist (which literally means "thanksgiving"). It goes by several names: Communion, the Lord’s Supper, or Mass. But whatever its formal name, this is the family meal for Christians and a foretaste of the heavenly banquet. As such, all persons who have been baptized, and are therefore part of the extended family that is the Church, are welcome to receive the bread and wine, and be in communion with God and each other. Before we come to take Communion together, “we should examine our lives, repent of our sins, and be in love and charity with all people” (Book of Common Prayer, p. 859).

After the worship service, everyone is invited to coffee hour in the parish house for fellowship.
